Maha Gauri -The eighth incarnation of Navadurgas
Maha gauri emerged from Vedas. Maha Gauri means extreme white (Gaura) complexion. She got that colour because of Lord Shivas Love and affection. When Goddess Parvati observed rigorous tapas, Lord Rudra, manifested for her uninterrupted devotion, could not bring out Parvati from Nirvikalpa Samadhi.
Then Lord Rudra shined with an adorable light equivalent to 1000crores of sunlight, with which she opened her eyes and had a darshan of Maharudra and became his consort.
She developed a dark complexion during her tapas. By seeing her appeal, he felt bad and ordered Ganga to shower on Goddess Parvati. The moment it happened, Goddess Parvati shined with an extreme white complexion and emerged as Mahagauri.
